VILSBIBURG & LANDSHUT
CLOSE BY & EASY TO REACH

Whether it's a short walk, a stroll through town, or a little excursion—there is much to discover around Das Schandl. Vilsbiburg can be reached in a few minutes, and the historic old town of Landshut is only about a 30-minute drive away. Ideal for spontaneous getaways and varied days out.

LANDSHUT

Landshut in Lower Bavaria is one of Bavaria's most beautiful historic towns and a popular destination for culture lovers, connoisseurs, and day trippers. The town is particularly well known for the Landshut Wedding, a traditional historical festival that attracts visitors from all over Germany and beyond every four years.

The city on the Isar River was once the residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty and today delights visitors with its impressive old town and numerous sights. Among the most famous are Trausnitz Castle, towering high above the city, and St. Martin's Tower, considered the tallest brick tower in the world. The Landshut City Residence, one of the earliest Renaissance buildings north of the Alps, is also a highlight for architecture and history lovers.

In addition to history and architecture, Landshut offers a wide range of opportunities for a relaxing stay. Walks along the Isar River, cozy cafés in the old town, and several museums make the city an ideal destination for a day trip or a short vacation in Lower Bavaria – whatever the weather.

VILSBIBURG

Vilsbiburg in Lower Bavaria's Vilstal valley looks back on over 1,000 years of history and delights visitors with its charming old town. This is divided into two areas: the lower town, a market area laid out by the Wittelsbach family in the 13th century with a long town square and colorful town houses, and the upper town with richly decorated facades from the 19th and early 20th centuries, traditional inns, and small shops.

A special highlight is the 15th-century pilgrimage church of Maria Hilf, which towers high above the town and is well worth a visit. Also worth seeing is the former hospital church, which now houses the Vilsbiburg Local History Museum.

Contemporary culture is provided by the Kulturforum Vilsbiburg with changing exhibitions and concerts, as well as the modern cinema in the town center. Vilsbiburg thus offers a successful mix of history, culture, and relaxed excursion opportunities.

We will be happy to give you further tips for excursions in and around Vilsbiburg and to Landshut at the reception.
